Explosives competence

SAFEX International sees the development of Explosives Competence as a logical extension to its service offering. If Incident Information identifies deficiencies in the way SAFEX members conduct their operations, and Good Practices the manner in which such deficiencies can be corrected, then Explosives Competence is the way to help Members implement those recommended practices.

SAFEX offers two services to assist its Members in developing the appropriate explosives competences to operate safely and responsibly:

  • Training and Development (or Training for short)
  • Publications with knowledge about the identified good explosives practices

Training

The SAFEX approach

We see Training as the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies. As the sharpening of skills and competence is done primarily in the workplace, SAFEX can at best support Members in those efforts through training. Therefore, in its Training SAFEX focuses on the transfer of knowledge, concepts and rules as well as attitude and behavioural change that will improve the HS&E performance of employees in Member companies.

Publications

SAFEX views Publications as an important way to transfer explosives specific knowledge to its Members. Besides its own publications, SAFEX is also fortunate to make available publications from some of its Associate Members through their kind offices. Therefore, the Publications SAFEX offers falls into two categories:

  • SAFEX Publications
  • Publications from Associate Members

SAFEX Newsletter

The SAFEX Newsletter was initiated for all members and other interested parties:

  • To inform the SAFEX Community of what is happening in SAFEX.
  • To provide a forum for readers to learn from the published articles and opinions expressed.
  • To encourage networking among members of the SAFEX Community.
  • To ensure SHE practices stay current and is shared.
