The UK’s Centre of Excellence for Energetic Materials (CoEEM), in conjunction with Cranfield University and the Sector Skills Strategy Group, is hosting the inaugural UK based International Explosives Conference 2020 – "IEC2020". The location is the Victory Services Club near Marble Arch in the West End of London. The dates are 30 Jun – 2 July 2020.

"Future Developments in Explosives and Energetics"

The event theme is future developments and its content is very much aimed at the science of explosives and energetics. By design it is unclassified with a view to generating a truly international mix of speakers and delegates.

The principal themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Energetic Materials and Characterisation
  • Manufacturing and Processing
  • Response to Stimuli
  • Advances in Experimental Techniques and Diagnostics
  • Theory, Modelling and Simulation

The style of the event is keynote, presentations, plenaries, posters and peer review of research. As such, the event seeks to bring together different communities from across the energetics sector. A wide cross-section, by both specialisation and experience, will benefit. The format will be:

  • Day 1: Keynote, presentations, plenaries and drinks reception.
  • Day 2: Presentations, plenaries, Three Minute Thesis, posters, keynote and evening dinner
  • Day 3: Presentations, plenaries, workshop, keynote, awards, lunch and departure on completion

Abstracts for papers and posters should be submitted by 31 January 2020 for review by the conference editorial committee. A decision on selected papers, presentations and posters will be made by 28 February 2020. The full papers will be required by 31 May 2020. A record of proceedings published by the Royal Society of Chemistry will be made available to all participants.
