The exchange of explosives incident information is one of SAFEX’s prime functions. This is in keeping with the motivation our founding fathers had when they started SAFEX in 1954. In order to exchange incident information effectively, SAFEX needs first to acquire quality information which it does through incident reporting. But to do justice to the efforts that Members put into reporting incidents, this information must be stored in a form that makes it easy to retrieve. This is essential to maximise the learning potential of the incident information we acquire.
Therefore, SAFEX’s Incident Information function comprises two dimensions:
- Its incident reporting process for acquiring incident information
- The maintenance of an incident database for the storage and retrieval of incident information
