Australian Explosives Industry and Safety Group (AEISG)

The AEISG is the successor organisation to the Australian Explosives Manufacturers Safety Committee, a body which was formed in September 1994. It purposes among other things to represent the Industry nationally and internationally to regulatory bodies on safety and other matters involving the Industry; disseminate information relating to health, safety and environmental issues in the Industry; promote measures aimed at ensuring that the community perceives the Industry to be responsible and competent in order to ensure continued stability of the Industry; and establish relationships with national and international organisations in the Industry and related industries.

One of the ongoing activities of AEISG Inc is the preparation and publishing of Codes of Practice covering specialised industry activities; activities which may not be subject to detailed statutory regulation.

SAFEX was proud to welcome AEISG as a Corporate Associate Member in 2009

Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME)

The IME was founded in 1913 by the manufacturers of commercial explosives and organized “to gather and distribute accurate information regarding the industry; to maintain high and uniform explosives manufacturing standards and inform the public regarding the proper use of same”.

The IME  represents U.S. manufacturers of high explosives and other companies that distribute explosives or provide related products and services.  An average of 3 million metric tons of explosives are consumed annually in the United States, of which IME member companies produce over 95 percent. The Institute has promoted safety and security practices throughout the life cycle of industrial explosive products since its establishment. It was founded with the encouragement of the government to develop best practices for the industry shortly after the turn of the last century to stem the proliferation of accidents accompanying explosives operations.

The IME is one of the oldest Corporate Associate Members of SAFEX and we are very proud of our association.
